Jay Michaelson is a frequent performer who has shouted, sung, chanted, played, and read his poetic work at venues from Burning Man to CBGB, Yale University to Tmol Shilshom in Jerusalem. Generally, he performs his poems with drums and other instrumental accompaniment, creating an evening that is less a ghastly 'poetry reading' than an ecstatic, erotic, energy-charged happening. Jay does also read in more sober settings, and lectures widely on new Jewish poetry, mysticism, law, and other subjects.
